Cursol® now available in liquid format

Nutris expands the application possibilities of Cursol®, its double-patented curcumin ingredient, with the launch of a new liquid format designed for formulations where dispersibility, integration and sensory experience play a more relevant role.

Originally developed as a highly free-flowing powder, Cursol® has been formulated to support joint and muscle health through a scientifically designed curcumin delivery system standardized at 21 mg/g of curcumin in its powder form and 66 mg/g in its liquid version.

The ingredient combines a patented composition and processing aimed at preserving curcumin stability and facilitating its incorporation into different nutraceutical applications.

Clinical evidence supporting Cursol®

Cursol® has been evaluated in different clinical contexts related to inflammation, mobility and healthy ageing.

One placebo-controlled multicentre study involving 150 patients with knee osteoarthritis assessed the effects of daily supplementation with either 84 mg/day or 126 mg/day of curcumin delivered through Cursol® technology over a three-month period.

The study observed a greater reduction in knee pain in both intervention groups compared to placebo, together with a reduction in the use of NSAIDs after three months. Reported reductions reached 56% in the high-dose group and 37% in the low-dose group.

Additional data associated with the ingredient also reported improvements related to cartilage degradation markers, mobility recovery and tolerance.

Beyond joint health, Cursol® has also been studied in the context of active and healthy ageing. A randomized, triple-blinded, placebo-controlled clinical trial involving 81 older adults evaluated the combination of Cursol® supplementation and physical exercise over a 16-week intervention period.

According to the study data, supplementation combined with exercise contributed to improvements in functional capacity, metabolic health, cardiovascular parameters and inflammatory markers.

The study also reported significant reductions in inflammatory markers such as TNF-alpha, together with improvements in six-minute walk test performance and several quality-of-life indicators.

Powder or liquid: choosing the right format

The introduction of a liquid version does not replace the original powder format. Instead, it extends the formulation possibilities of the ingredient depending on the technical requirements of each application.

The powder format remains particularly suitable for capsules, tablets, sticks and formulations where flowability, dosing precision and dry processing conditions are critical. Its free-flowing properties also facilitate combination with additional active ingredients in complex formulations.

The liquid format, meanwhile, opens new possibilities for delivery systems where homogeneous dispersion, faster incorporation or specific sensory profiles may be preferable. This includes applications in gummies, liquid supplements, sachets or other formulations where integration into semi-solid or liquid matrices plays a more relevant role during development and manufacturing. In addition, because the liquid formula is more concentrated, less product is needed without compromising effectiveness.

This broader format flexibility reflects Nutris’ approach to ingredient development: adapting scientific innovation not only to efficacy targets, but also to the practical realities of formulation and industrial production.
